#27: HOW TO KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE AMONG CHAOS?

Chaos is constant. Every day, from the moment we wake up, we have to make decisions and choices on the various paths that are presented to us. The alarm clock went off and now what? Do I get up or stay in bed? Do I put it off for another 5 minutes? Or another 10? These small decisions will, like dominoes, little by little impact the continuation of your day as well as its quality. With each passing moment, a chaotic universe presents itself before our eyes and we must, even if unconsciously, choose which path to follow.
Looking at our day in this way, it seems tiring, exhausting and very pragmatic. If living is just one big ‘making choices’, it seems we must be on constant alert to everything happening around us to ensure we make the best possible choices, or at least make some choice.
So, how to stay alive within the chaos?
By talking about “alive”, I don’t just mean the fact that I am not dead. This would be an insult to all the potentiality that exists in our human nature, an insult to life itself. When I say alive, I mean vitality. I mean engagement, drive, energy and intensity. The life that is lived intensely, the life that is excited, engaged or even the one and feels great sorrow. The life that provides unique moments, positive or not, but that pull at all the humanity that dwells within us.

In short, how is it possible to be human, and remain as such, by making the choices of each day?

We become, daily, the choices we make and the ones we don’t, and so we must honour those choices in order to act within the humanity that dwells within us. These become our truths, our behaviours and our experiences. By honouring our choices, we respect who we are and respect our current life moment. Give yourself a break, allow yourself, know yourself. Do what makes sense for the moment you are in and respect your process.
Fear can sometimes stop us and prevent this human power from being explicit and powerful but, as the phrase goes, “success is on the other side of fear”. Success, beyond the idea of common sense, can be the emergence of our own human quality, with creativity, experimentation, connections and relationships.
The choices we make, then, can be broadly what brings us closer to our quality of Humans, or what takes us away from it, and part of our own consciousness to make the best choices so that our life is closer to what our own freedom can be.
